Trials Turned to Gold

    
     Autumn is now underway and the leaves are turning gold and if you are reading my blogs you know I have a lot of time on my hands and I am spending that catching up on a lifetime of paperwork that I felt was important to save.  Once upon a time I thrived on reading, but now post-concussion I find it difficult to focus on in depth reading, but enjoy snippets of news.  I am reviewing old news as I am reading through the things that inspired me over the years.  Out of the attic has come a box of my treasured notes shared from friends which included a couple newsletters from Keith and Melody Green's The Last Days' Ministry so as I write this I am listening to the adult music of the child prodigy, Keith Green, which can easily be found on a variety of internet sites including the Last Days Ministries website.  Reflecting on his short life, his wife, Melody described how his music of searching transitioned into his music of finding truth (Interview).  Keith's wife published a book, No Compromise: The Life Story of Keith Green.  You can find a peek into their life and their talent and passion of their Born Again experience with these hyperlinks and what is happening currently.  Keith challenged the every day Christian to really examine their spiritual life here on earth.  He packed a lot in his short 28 years and among other things, is given credit for a lot of today's Contemporary Christian Music, one has to wonder what more he could have accomplished had he lived 91 years, a few of his songs include:

Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge      The end of the year brings about an opportunity to reflect on the passing year.  One fond activity I experienced was the opportunity to join the local Photographers' Club as they traveled to the Outer Banks in late October to take a photography workshop with a local photographer.  It was not my first visit to the Atlantic Ocean, but it was my first visit with a single agenda to only take photographs of the Outer Banks with my new camera.  We set out late morning to Hatteras Island and our first stop on North Carolina Highway 12 was the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge known for its historical Pea Island Life Saving Station.  I really needed a stronger lens to capture the migratory birds there, so focused on the flora and the varieties of shrubs that grow on the island, such as this canopy of shrubs that framed this couple as they exited the refuge via the path along the island's pond.   M...
