Lazy Susan Bright Yellow Petals |
I walk through our yard in the early morning hours prior to the intense heat setting in. I have a duty to check our pool's skimmer to rescue the little critters that tend to get stuck in the force of the current, typically frogs and toads, but we have also rescued turtles, rabbits, snakes, anoles, and bats among other things. Last year a spider nest burst open in the pool. Hundreds of spiders spread across the water. Where is your camera when you need it? I try to remember to look outside before I exit, as often there are deer, herons and turtles that you can capture an image of. The gardens are full of life in the morning. If you look closely, you see a lot of life in the small details.
This time of the year, natures' young are out in force. A multitude of geese, birds and bats are learning to navigate the skies and the creepy crawly things are finding their path on the ground. The dog follows and investigates the new life. You have to watch where you step. Baby toads blend in to the pebbles, garter snakes slither through the brick patio crevices hunting toads, through the branches hunting baby birds and at night, the copperheads cross the driveway to seek out the cicadas in the trees.

If you watch closely, the flowers bend slightly with tiny anoles that blend into the leaves.

Anole blends in on Lazy Susan Stalk |
As I am sitting at my desk, I hear a rustling of paper. A tail is sticking up above the stationary on my desk. I grab my phone to snap a picture, the only way my husband will believe my story! A crack in the window has given way to a little Carolina Anole visitor. These little green lizards amuse me, but not enough to invite them in the house. I guess we know where that wall art inspiration comes from. I'm sure that's not a surprise to many.

I need to find a way to capture him and return him to the garden. I'll let you know how it goes.
